Hit this button labeled Tech Alpha Opt-In.Īfter hitting that button, players will be taken to a Blizzard Log-In page. Click it to be sent to the official sign-up button. In the top right of this page will be a large button labeled Opt-In. After the player enters their birth date, the website will redirect them to the main page of the site. As previously stated, this is an M for mature-rated game so players will need to be 18+ or have the permission of a parent or guardian who is of age. That being said, I fully concede that the act of updating a 25 year old game may present some unique challenges here, so I'll reserve my final judgment of Blizzard's attitude towards controller support until we see what manifests in Diablo IV, but quotes like the above just don't give me confidence as somebody who prefers controller but still wants to play on PC for all of the other advantages that it affords.Players will need to head to the Diablo 2 website and enter their birth date into the pop-up box. And it certainly should not factor into PvE content. Segregate PvP player bases by input, by all means, but it should be by INPUT, not by platform. I'm just very tired of people (both developers and end users) focusing so much on the notion that pc/console crossplay is always just about kb/m vs controllers, which is a dichotomy that COMPETELY discounts people like me who want to use a controller on PC. Like, I'm sympathetic to the notion that supporting a separate UI path on PC is more work (though PLENTLY of other games seem to do so just fine, even other ARPGs), but input-based balancing IS the answer here.
